Computation

Computation Programs
We develop students’ speedy computation skills. Related programs are
  • Speed Math,
  • Computation Wiz, and
  • Magic Math.

Speed Math (1st ~ 5th Grade)

Speed Math develops various mental calculation strategies and enables students to add, subtract, multiply, and divide 2-digit numbers quickly, confidently, and accurately. Students are recommended to finish 3 lessons per session, twice a week. Every lesson, after the very first class, starts by reviewing the previous lesson(s). Internet-based practice is required.

Since Math6Month teaches speedy mental math using various strategies, students will learn several ways of solving the same questions. The strategy itself, however, is not important. Every student will gradually choose and develop his or her own convenient way of doing mental math.

Computation Wiz (Kindergarten ~ 7th Grade)

The Computation Wiz program contains all materials students need to solve computation exercises. Each lesson shows examples and provides 4 different types of problems in practice sets. This program does not follow the student’s grade as the other Math6Month programs, such as Common Core or Math Wiz. With Computation Wiz, it is possible for a student to work at a level that is much higher than his or her grade level. The Computation Wiz program requires less help from the teacher compared to the other math programs. This program can be used independently to improve students’ computation skills or used as additional homework or supplements. (For students who are too young to comprehend the questions from Math Wiz or 7-Step Success problem solving worksheets, Math Computation should be used as the primary text.)

Magic Math (Kindergarten ~ 8th Grade)

Magic Math contains systematic computation exercises that start from an easy level to gradually reach a higher level, so that students can achieve necessary computation skills quickly and with confidence.
